Thoughts made
tangible.

Studio UF is the independent practice of art director, Irene Michuki. Based in Nairobi – Kenya, the studio sits within the wider Unfamiliar Flair ecosystem as its design practice; working with founders, businesses, and creative partners to shape brands, identities, and packaging with clarity, intention, and heart.

Our process begins long before anything is designed.
By asking better questions, finding the right language, and understanding what deserves to be expressed; design becomes the outcome of that thinking, not the starting point.

THE MOVE TO CREATE STUDIO UF WAS
BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE NEED TO SPECIALISE IN BRAND AND PACKAGING DESIGN.

FAQ’s

Studio UF is the design practice within Unfamiliar Flair that helps turn ideas into clear, tangible creative outcomes through brand strategy, visual identity systems, and packaging design.

Studio UF is best suited for founders, creatives, and culturally aware operators looking for more than surface-level polish. People who value work that feels emotionally resonant as well as strategically considered.

The approach is rooted in the belief that creativity is more than instinct. It’s something that can be refined, shaped, and expressed with intention. The process stays flexible, but always focused on building strong ideas and creating something genuinely useful.

Not always. Some projects call for a full strategic and visual build, while others need focused support on areas such as creative direction, visual assets or specific design refinements within an existing brand system. The scope is shaped around what the work actually needs.

There isn’t a fixed timeline. Every project has its own pace, shaped by the scope of work, its complexity, and how quickly feedback and decisions come together.

Every project has its own pace. Timelines can shift as briefs evolve, approvals take time, or the work calls for deeper exploration and refinement before it’s ready for final execution.

However, I do abide by timelines set and communicate well in advance if we foresee a delay.

Projects stay on track through early alignment, a shared project planner, open communication, active collaboration, and defined review points. When both sides stay responsive, decisions get made early, feedback lands on time, and the work can progress with momentum instead of repeated stops and restarts.

At the start, I need enough context to understand your business and the real problem we’re solving. That usually means clarity on your goals, any relevant background, existing brand assets or references, and honest insight into what’s working, what isn’t, and what matters most right now.

Clients should expect to be active collaborators. The best work comes from open communication, thoughtful feedback, and shared clarity at key stages. The studio leads the process, but the strongest outcomes happen when clients stay engaged and help shape the work along the way.
